How to Make Humic Acid?

It is a heterogeneous mixture containing functional groups with a hydrophilic acidic structure as well as hydrophobic groups. In the presence of water, humic acids have significant effects on the foliar fertilization of plants, leaf water retention, improvement in photosynthetic structure, and the development of antioxidant metabolism.

In some soils, nutrients are prevented from penetrating the soil due to clumping. Humic acid is used to dissolve these nutrients present in the soil.

In agriculture, it is used in liquid form. Its purpose in fertilization processes is as a supplement. In this application, it helps dissolve nutrients in the soil, allowing them to reach the plant roots. The plant roots then absorb these nutrients for nourishment.

What is the Humic Acid Formula?

To make a humic acid solution, add 140 g of Potassium Hydroxide and 1400 g of Leonardite to 9 L of water and stir until the Leonardite dissolves. This process can take approximately 2 days. After the Leonardite has dissolved, the resulting solution needs to rest for 2 days.

How is it Used?

If the resulting humic acid is to be used with a drip irrigation system, it must first be filtered through a strainer. Otherwise, it will cause blockages in the drip system. Before use, this solution must be diluted by adding 1 L of humic acid to 1 ton of water.

Why is Potassium Hydroxide Used in Humic Acid Preparation?

Potassium hydroxide increases the solubility of humic acids. This allows for fast and effective production of humic acid. It also reduces production costs.
