Chemical Composition for Cleaning Aluminum Surfaces

Cleaning of metal surfaces has often been a major problem. While cleaning metal surfaces, it should especially not provide a disadvantage against corrosion.

Items that are partly or entirely of metal structure need to be cleaned after a certain amount of use. After long-term use, many substances, organic or inorganic, accumulate on the surface of these metals; many methods have been determined for their cleaning.

Detected impurities may include natural and synthetic oils, greases, pigments, proteins, as well as other organic and inorganic deposits.

Metal accessories or items exhibit sensitivity to corrosion when they come into contact with liquids that have an alkaline structure or even very effective cleaning capabilities for cleaning purposes.

In previous years, organic solvents were used to prevent the vulnerability of metal to corrosion. In this way, corrosion formation could be controlled at a certain point.

Today, silicates such as alkali metal silicates act as corrosion inhibitors in cleaning compositions. Especially on metal surfaces such as steel, aluminum, aluminum alloys, and zinc plating, they have corrosion-inhibiting properties.

Cleaning Composition for Metals in the Food Processing Industry

Organic impurities generally occur on metals used in the food processing industry. The following compositions are combined to remove these impurities.

  • A chemical with peroxygen properties due to its contact with food
  • A metasilicate (Sodium Metasilicate)
  • A chelating agent
  • A builder component

The disadvantage of this cleaning composition is that it forms a silicate layer on the metal surface in case of insufficient rinsing. Silicate layers formed on the metal surface are undesirable both from an optical point of view and because of hygienic conditions.

In another composition, the following substances are used.

  • Alkali Metal Phosphates
  • Borates
  • Molybdates
  • Arsenates
  • Arsenites
  • Nitrates
  • Nitrites
  • Chromites

In addition to these inorganic chemical compounds, the following compounds are also used.

These are chemical compositions obtained from the reactions of compounds like these. Since the chemical compositions used here do not have anti-corrosive properties, a corrosion inhibitor must be used additionally. The corrosion inhibitors used here are as follows.

  • Pyridine
  • Diethyl Thiourea
  • Toluidine

Chemicals and their derivatives are used.

Before forming the cleaning composition, the corrosion inhibitor salt must be dissolved in water. In case of difficulty in dissolving in water, it is obtained by dissolving in the presence of an acid and then neutralizing it.

The resulting solution is in concentrated form. This solution can also be used by diluting with water in certain proportions.
